Maple Leafs Goalie Prospect Dennis Hildeby Earns Exciting Opportunity Amid Hot Streak

Earlier this month, the AHL announced their rosters ahead of the All-Star Classic with a pair of Toronto Marlies forwards making the cut in Alex Steeves and Logan Shaw. It sounds like we can add a third member with the addition of Dennis Hildeby last night.

The hulking netminder has split his season in both the NHL and AHL where he's posted a 3-3-0 record, .878 SV% and a 3.16 GAA with the Toronto Maple Leafs but a far more spectacular 7-2-2 record, .914 SV%, and 2.39 GAA with the Marlies.

This is the second time in as many years that Hildeby was honoured with the All-Star Classic selection after earning one during his rookie campaign last year. He will be replacing Syracuse's Brandon Halverson.

As for the forwards duo, Steeves earned his second appearance after posting an AHL-leading 24 goals and 39 points in 33 games, while Shaw will be playing in his third Classic game with 22 points in 37 games to his name this season.

The All-Star Classic is set to take place on the 2nd and 3rd of February in Palm Desert, California, the home locale for the Seattle Kraken's AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds.

The Skills Competition will be on Sunday the 2nd of February at 9:00 PM (ET) while the AHL Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony will take place the following day at 2:00 PM (ET) and the game itself following that at 9:00 PM (ET).

The Marlies enter the All-Star break in third place in the North Division with a 24-11-2-3 record. They trail Rochester by 5 points and Laval by 6 points but they have 3 games in hand on the former and 2 games in hand on the latter, which will assuredly help for their push for the division crown.
