The Maple Leafs have confirmed their starting goaltender for Thursday's meeting with Anaheim and the announcement may hint at who the #1 goalie is in Toronto.
Stolarz spent parts of 4 seasons with the Ducks, where he compiled a 21-18-3 record with a 2.88 GAA and a .913 SV% in 56 games between 2019-20 and 2022-23.
The New Jersey native has been nothing short of amazing for the Maple Leafs this season as he looks to improve on his 9-5-2 record, minuscule 2.13 GAA, and .928 SV%.
Despite his numbers and strong record, Stolarz is on the hunt for consecutive victories for the first time since the 8th of November, however that has more so to do with the team in front of him as he has gone 4-3-0 during that stretch with just 15 goals allowed while carrying a .928 SV%.
The Ducks are on the back-end of a back-to-back set as they dropped a 5-1 contest last night to Ottawa. They are currently riding a 4-game losing streak and have lost 7 of their last 9 games.
It's going to be very important for the Maple Leafs to hunker down and focus and not let this game slip through the cracks. It won't be an easy task with
Lukas Dostal expected to be in goal as he carries a .921 SV% despite holding a 6-7-3 record.
With Stolarz earning back-to-back starts following
Joseph Woll's recent loss, we could very well be looking at a scenario in which Stolarz has seized the number one job in Toronto with his tremendous play of late.
