"The Toronto Maple Leafs will enjoy a few days off for their league mandated bye week and will be off until next Tuesday, but a pair of young players will not get to enjoy the break.
The Maple Leafs announced this morning that they have loaned defenseman Travis Dermott and forward Frederik Gauthier to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
This will allow both youngsters to play during the bye week as the Marlies have a pair of games at the Charlotte Checkers over the weekend.
General manager Lou Lamoriello has recently said how pleased he is with how Dermott has looked in his first two games in the NHL. Gauthier has played regularly on the fourth line ahead of Dominic Moore of late.
Both players are expected to be recalled to the Maple Leafs before they return from the bye week next week.
