Maple Leafs make surprise announcement about brand new affiliate
The Toronto Maple Leafs made an unexpected announcement on Wednesday, revealing their new ECHL affiliate team.
After the Maple Leafs' former ECHL affiliate, The Newfoundland Growlers, disbanded earlier this year, the blue and white have been searching for a team to replace them. The search is now over, as the Maple Leafs announced their brand new affiliation on X/Twitter.
''We are excited to embark on this new partnership with the Cincinnati Cyclones'' - Brad Treliving
The Cincinnati Cyclones have been officially announced as the new ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Cyclones jerseys feature a predominately red colour, which is a new colour for Maple Leafs hockey, but then again, the black and gold in Newfoundland was a bit different as well.
The ECHL 2024-25 regular season, is set to start on Friday October 18th. The Cyclones play their first game October 19th, and home opener October 26th.
