The Maple Leafs have missed out on another goaltender they were linked to, this time a former Stanley Cup Champion in Logan Thompson.

Thompson has been traded by the Golden Knights to the Washington Capitals for two 3rd round picks, according to the Las Vegas Golden Knights' account on Twitter/X.

The Maple Leafs have, yet again, missed out on another desired goalie target this offseason. The former Las Vegas goaltender would have been the perfect addition to a Leafs goalie tandem that already features an outstanding piece in Joseph Woll.

Thompson has been part of a goalie group in each of the last 3 seasons for the Golden Knights. The Calgary native is coming off a 2023-24 regular season that saw him post a 25-14-5 record with a .908 SV% and 2.70 GAA.

The Leafs also missed out on goalies Linus Ullmark, Darcy Kuemper and Jacob Markstrom earlier this offseason, as they were traded to the Ottawa Senators, Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils.

The Leafs have a giant hole to fill in net, yet they have still not made a move. If the blue and white do not act soon, there may be no quality goalies left, forcing them to either overpay someone in free agency or perhaps push them towards the trade market, which could cost them some more significant assets. Time is ticking for Leafs GM Brad Treliving.
