Although the Leafs' prospects swept the weekend mini-series against the Montreal Canadiens, it came at a price, as they lost Ben Danford due to a freak injury suffered in practice ahead of the weekend. They also lost Fraser Minten, who was injured after being shoved into the boards awkwardly during q puck race in Sunday's game.
Things could have gone from bad to worse for the Leafs prospects as near the end of the game on Sunday, quickly rising prospect Noah Chadwick went behind the net to retrieve the puck and was hit awkwardly and high by Habs prospect Luke Tuch, sending his head into the dasher. Thankfully, Chadwick was able to get up as chaos ensued with Rhett Parsons jumping in to defend Chadwick, ripping off Tuch's entire jersey and shoulder pads before being tackled by a pair of Habs.
Chadwick, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound defenseman from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, already possesses NHL size. Not only has he already begun to turn heads within the Maple Leafs' prospect pipeline, he's done so as a 6th round pick (185th overall in 2023). He has drawn the attention of Hockey Canada as well, and could very well be selected to represent Team Canada at this year's World Junior Championship tournament after showing well at selection camp this past summer.
The 19-year-old was recently named captain of the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL.
