Top Maple Leafs center prospect Fraser Minten appears to have suffered an injury after being shoved into the boards on a dirty play by Canadiens defenseman.
Minten was the star for the Maple Leafs in the first game of the Prospect Showcase in Montreal on Saturday, scoring a PP goal and adding the shootout winner for the Leafs. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, Minten appears to have been injured while attempting a forecheck as a Canadiens defensemen shoved the 2022 2nd round pick into the boards legs first during a puck race.
The timing couldn't be worse for Minten, who showed up ahead of training camp in the best shape of his young career. He was expected to challenge for a roster spot with the Leafs this fall after originally making the team out of camp last year.
You absolutely hate to see these types of injuries, because they are entirely avoidable. Be sure to check back with us for updates on Minten's status ahead of team medicals on Sept 18th, a day before on ice sessions begin at Maple Leafs training camp.
