Maple Leafs prospect Roni Hirvonen brought his A-game to Montreal, popping off against the Canadiens prospects at the 2024 Prospect Showcase.

It was a trying year for Hirvonen in 2023-24, with the former 2nd round pick almost having his career ended due to a terrifying eye injury. Thankfully, the 22-year-old was able resume his career and suited up in 37 regular season games for the Toronto Marlies, racking up 13 points despite missing most of the year.

Coming into this year's training camp, I don't think there were too many people looking at Hirvonen as a prospect who had the potential to make some noise ahead of the 2024-25 season, but his performance on Sunday against Montreal certainly turned a few heads and put the Leafs' coaching staff on notice. Hirvonen currently has 2 goals on the day against the Canadiens' prospects.

The next stop for Hirvonen will be Maple Leafs training camp this week. He is not expected to challenge for a roster spot with the Leafs, but may very well end up with a significant role for the Marlies this season, likely playing top-6 minutes in all situations.
