After being named captain of the Lethbridge Hurricanes earlier this summer, Chadwick attended Maple Leafs training camp with one goal in mind; to absorb as much as he could to take back with him to the WHL for what he hopes is another big season.
The 2023 6th round draft pick has come a long way in a short time, enjoying a breakout season with Lethbridge in 2023-24, in which he posted a career high 12 goals, 44 assists and 56 points in 66 games. Chadwick's season was so impressive, in fact, that he earned himself an invite to Team Canada's World Junior Championship Selection Camp earlier this summer, along with fellow Leafs prospect Easton Cowan.
Chadwick's stint in Leafs camp this fall was a brief one, but he did survive the first wave of cuts before finally being sent back to his junior club today, per David Alter of The Hockey News.
The 6'4, 203-pound 19-year-old blueliner already has National Hockey League size, but still needs some seasoning in the WHL and perhaps even the AHL in his 20-year-old season before he really stands a chance of challenging for an NHL spot in Toronto, though another big year in the WHL could provide him with a better springboard towards an NHL future if he can impress again in 2024-25.
