The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially opted to move the 23rd overall draft pick, adding some more draft capital for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

The Leafs have completed a deal with the Anaheim Ducks, sending the Ducks the 23rd overall pick in exchange for the 31st overall pick and the 58th overall pick, allowing them to move into the 2nd round while still retaining a 1st round pick.

There are a large cluster of players available in this range that makes moving back 8 spots a reasonable idea to be able to make not one, but two noteworthy draft picks in this year's draft.

Beyond the 1st round this year, the Leafs had no picks in rounds 2 and 3 prior to the trade, with the rest of their picks falling in the 4th round to 7th round range.
