"The Toronto Maple Leafs standoff with Mitch Marner continues and it'll likely continue for awhile. The two sides are extremely far apart on a contract and Bob McKenzie has stated the two sides aren't even close on term or money. All things are starting to point towards a long term hold out and Marner spoke about it with NHL.comWhile Marner of course stated he wants to get a deal done with the Leafs and stay in Toronto, he did say that if a deal isn't done come September, there's no way he'll be at training camp. Of course Marner did make it clear that he'd prefer to get a deal done so he can attend training camp. Marner is of course looking for "Auston Matthews money" on a deal that is around five years and would let him touch free agency early in his career just like Matthews.
Mitch Marner says he likely would not attend training camp if he does not have a contract in place by then.#Leafs#NHL — Dave McCarthy (@DaveAMcCarthy) July 18, 2019
