The Toronto Maple Leafs got back on the winning side of things last night as they took down the Arizona Coyotes. Tyson Barrie scored his first goal as a Maple Leaf and sounded absolutely ecstatic about the Leafs' new head coach. He's not the only one. Leafs' star Auston Matthews also registered a goal in the game along with 17minutes of ice time during 5 on 5 play. 17 minutes of ice time during 5 on 5 is something he had done just nine times in 235 games playing for former coach Mike Babcock. Much like Barrie, Matthews is in absolute love with his new head coach and Sheldon Keefe's vision on how he wants the Leafs to play. "Really passionate. He wants us to utilize our skill sets, he wants us to play free and not that it's a free-for-all for everybody but he wants us to compete and utilize the God-given talents we have."
The Leafs' star believes the new system helps make the Leafs look better and play more comfortably. "Little bit more freedom and we weren't really just giving up the puck. If something wasn't there, we would come back and hang on to it. We'd all come up and support each other. We didn't have guys all over the place."
