Not many players break into the NHL at 27, and the undrafted winger from Wainwright, Alberta is a unique story. He's climbed the ranks all the way from the ECHL to the NHL through hard work, determination and grit. He's impressed the Leafs' front office, gained the trust of Sheldon Keefe, and the admiration of his teammates. Max Domi was quick to offer praise after the Leafs won a tight game against the Montreal Canadiens thanks in part to McMann's 10th goal of the season.
To think that McMann's rise this season began with a last minute call in a game he'd been marked as a healthy scratch for only adds to his incredible story. If it weren't for John Tavares getting sick that night, McMann's incredible hat trick against the St. Louis Blues would never have happened. The Leafs have found a diamond in the rough with McMann. The only question left is just how far will he be able to rise in the Leafs lineup?
