Max Domi gives credit to a teammate who he feels is flying under the radar
Since the infamous Ridly Grieg loss to the Senators, the Leafs have been red hot, winning 11 of 14 games. They've even managed to keep winning with Auston Matthews dipping below his absolutely ridiculous goal scoring pace lately. A big part of their recent success is an increase in secondary scoring. Leading the way has been none other than Bobby McMann.
Not many players break into the NHL at 27, and the undrafted winger from Wainwright, Alberta is a unique story. He's climbed the ranks all the way from the ECHL to the NHL through hard work, determination and grit. He's impressed the Leafs' front office, gained the trust of Sheldon Keefe, and the admiration of his teammates. Max Domi was quick to offer praise after the Leafs won a tight game against the Montreal Canadiens thanks in part to McMann's 10th goal of the season.
"Going back to the first time I met him at training camp, he was an absolute animal in the gym and on the ice. He's really coming into his own now. He's such a big part of this team. Great dude and he deserves it all." - Max Domi on Bobby McMann
To think that McMann's rise this season began with a last minute call in a game he'd been marked as a healthy scratch for only adds to his incredible story. If it weren't for John Tavares getting sick that night, McMann's incredible hat trick against the St. Louis Blues would never have happened. The Leafs have found a diamond in the rough with McMann. The only question left is just how far will he be able to rise in the Leafs lineup?
