Domi played what was his best game of the series on Tuesday evening, being thrust into a top line center role with Matthews forced to the press box as a scratch in an elimination game. Max rose to the occasion, though, finishing his night with an assist, 3 shots on goal and a shot block in nearly 19 minutes of ice time.
When the media caught up with Domi after the game, rather than sharing enjoying the spoils of victory, it became very clear very quickly that Domi and the Leafs are all business and have already shifted gears, lending all of their focus to Game 6 on Thursday night back in Toronto.
Domi was asked by a member of the Toronto media about Boston's blown 3-1 lead last year against Florida in Round 1 and whether or not he believes the Leafs have planted any seeds of doubt in Boston's mind. His response was sensational and reinforced where the team's focus is right now. It's not on last night or last year. It's on Game 6.
Domi has been as giddy as a kid on Christmas all year long, proud to be wearing a Maple Leafs jersey and living out his childhood dream, so it was a bit of a surprise to see him so dialed in and focused, not taking too much time to enjoy the win knowing there's still 2 more games left to win if the Leafs want to extend their playoff run. It's this type of attitude that the Leafs will need to have success in Game 6 and Game 7, should the series make it that far.
This man deserves an extension in Toronto and I truly hope he gets one this summer.
