"We all know there's somethings that are bigger than hockey and Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Mitch Marner is trying to get some help for one of those situations. Marner took to social media recently to ask for help in regards to a young girl suffering from a terrible disease. Rebecca Grace Silva suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) which affects the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord. It's an especially sad situation considering that 95% of babies with SMA don't get to see their second birthday. There's a specific gene therapy that's been approved in the United States called Zolgensma, however it hasn't been approved in Canada. The cost of the procedure in the United States? $2.125million. Marner is asking for Leafs' fans help try and raise that money.
"Years ago, a brave firefighter at the Vaughan Fire Dept helped our family when we were in need. Now his daughter needs our support. The Marner Assist Fund has made a donation to help with Rebecca Grace's treatment"
