The Toronto Maple Leafs put away the Vancouver Canucks last night by the score of 4-1. It's the Leafs' second win in a row after a bit of a rough stretch that saw them lose three out of four games.Once again Frederik Andersen was stellar stopping 38 of 39 shots by the Canucks and the 30 year old goalie continues to look like the Leafs' MVP. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the backup goalie situation.Michael Hutchinson has been absolutely brutal with a 4.55 goals against average and .876 save percentage in seven games so far this season. Clearly the Leafs' need an upgrade as Kasimir Kaskisuo isn't ready to be thrown into the NHL fire yet. We've heard the Leafs attached to Anaheim Ducks backup goalie Ryan Miller recently and he could be a viable option. Whoever it is, Leafs' head coach Sheldon Keefe wants somebody reliable as he doesn't want to overwork Andersen this early in the season. "I haven't talked to him about that. We're taking it a day at a time. But also knowing that it's imperative for us to get things moving with a second goaltender that can come in and play well."
"We're not going to overreact or anything to what's happening on the daily here because we want to be doing the right things for Fred and for our team in the long term but he's playing well here now."
