Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas had his midseason presser yesterday and made some interesting revelations.Instead of his regular "hockey deal", Dubas is willing to take the leap and get a rental for the rest of season as the Leafs' make a serious push. That means he's willing to give up prospects and/or draft picks for a player he'll let walk after the season. He also confirmed that he's trying to do it as soon as possible to get a jump on the 14 day quarantine period which means he's looking at players on US based teams. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, it might not be Mikael Granlund but instead New Jersey Devils forward Kyle Palmieri. The Devils are out of the mix once again and despite Palmieri staying loyal to the Devils over the years, it seems he's finally willing to help the team out and a accept a trade to land the team some assets. The 30 year old has a modified no trade clause and is in the final season of his deal that has a $4.65million cap hit. It's likely the Leafs would have to give up a roster player combined with a pick or a prospect. Palmieri has been a consistent goal scorer throughout his career despite his struggles this season and would definitely benefit playing beside either Auston Matthews or John Tavares. Do you think Palmieri would be a great fit for the Leafs top six?
