Report: Leafs Preparing To Make Presentation To John Tavares.

"For the last year or so we've seen some speculation about the Toronto Maple Leafs possibly making a push to land John Tavares during free agency. The chatter has never been as strong as when Steven Stamkos was an upcoming UFA, but it's still stuck around all season. Many have speculated the Leafs wouldn't go after Tavares because they'll need to sign William Nylander this summer, while Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner will need new contracts next year. Nylander hasn't been signed yet and there's no talk about extensions on July 1st for Marner or Matthews and it might be because the Leafs will try and sign Tavares first. TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs are expected to be one of the teams who meet with Tavares in the upcoming weeks and are currently "putting together a promotional video" which would feature pitches from current players. In no way does this confirm that Tavares wants to come to Toronto, but at least it looks like he'll hear them out. Are you hoping the Leafs sign Tavares.
Like a lot of teams, no doubt, if John Tavares gets to the UFA shopping period, and it is still an «if» at this point, TOR is believed to be putting together a promotional video for JT that may even include a cameo pitch or two from some current Leaf players.
