The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas made a splash this past week. Dubas moved forward Kasperi Kapanen along with some spare pieces to the Pittsburgh Penguins for their first round pick and some spare pieces. Toronto needed some cap relief and they got some, now they'll probably look to find some more as Dubas could be preparing to make a big splash during free agency. According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, Dubas is likely gearing up to make a run at St. Louis Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo during free agency. Fox points out how Dubas loves to go big game hunting and make a splash. The insider points out how the Blues signed Justin Faulk and Marco Scandella because their offer to Pietrangelo will likely be lower than what he's looking for because of the flat cap. Dubas will clear up more cap space to likely overpay for Pietrangelo. Fox adds that Dubas will likely give Pietrangelo a deal he'll get criticized for, but it's the only way to bring him back home. It could also lead to a William Nylander trade or shipping both Alexander Kerfoot and Andreas Johnsson out which would hurt their depth. Would you be willing to bring in Pietrangelo even if it's at a heavy salary cap cost and likely gutting the roster a bit?
