"The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas have yet to get a contract done with restricted free agent Mitch Marner and there's indication it's coming soon. We heard last week of a possible offer sheet by the New York Islanders however that never came to be.While we're not sure if the Marner camp actually met with the Islanders, we know for sure that he recently met with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Aaron Portzline of The Athletic confirmed on Friday that the Blue Jackets have sat down with Marner and his camp. Apparently the story goes that the two sides couldn't agree on a length of contract however Portzline adds there's no real indication that Marner has any real desire to leave Toronto. The Blue Jackets have both the salary cap space and draft picks to make a huge offer sheet work. Currently they still need to get Zach Werenski under contract and will have to deal with Pierre-Luc Dubois and Josh Anderson next year.
