The hockey world has lost another former NHL player, as Pete Conacher, an ex-Toronto Maple Leaf, has passed away. According to a heartwarming tribute from
legendary Maple Leafs commentator Joe Bowen showcasing their friendship on X:
''So very sad to learn this day that we have lost Pete Conacher. The former Leaf,Black Hawk and Ranger, won the 1959 World Hockey Championship with the Belleville McFarlands. A wonderful man who gave so freely of his time for good causes will be sorely missed. RIP my friend!!!''
The Maple Leafs also shared their heartfelt condolences via a message from their official X account:
Conacher played for the Maple Leafs during the 1957-58 season, recording 1 assist in 5 games and accumulating a total of 86 points in 229 games over his career. The Toronto native also played for the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers during his career.
In the 1957-58 season, the Maple Leafs were led by the legendary Dick Duff, who scored 49 points in 65 games, although the team finished last in the NHL, which at that time had only six teams.
