A gruesome scene in Colorado costs the Winnipeg Jets one of their top defensemen as Brenden Dillon suffered a gruesome skate laceration that will cost him some time.

At the end of last night's Game 3 between the Avs and the Jets, after the Avs had hung 6 goals on the Jets in a lopsided game, tensions boiled over with a full blown battle royale occurring on the ice as the final horn sounded. It wasn't until a pool of blood was spotted on the ice that it became clear what had happened.

During the scrum, Dillon's left hand had been slashed open by a skate blade, leaking blood all over the ice. Dillon himself was tied up with Colorado's Brandon Duhaime, and it took him a moment to realize that he was badly injured. Once the adrenaline wore off and he felt his hand, he quickly departed the ice for medical attention.

Before you continue scrolling, please be advised that the video and image below are not for the squeamish. The laceration Dillon suffered in the scuffle was very deep and very gruesome. Sensitive subject matter below, so let this serve as your warning. Proceed at your own discretion.

In the clip below, you can see Dillon tussling with Duhaime on the ice, at one point lifting his hand off the ice, noticing the damage.

A closer look shows the severe extent of the damage. Dillon is an absolute warrior to have suffered such a bad skate cut without even realizing.

Obviously, there's no way to know at this point just how much time Dillon will miss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Jets defenseman as he recovers from this very unfortunate injury.
