The Toronto Maple Leafs got things rolling to start the 2019-20 season with a win over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday. Toronto now moves forward with a game tonight against the Blue Jackets in Columbus followed with a home game tomorrow night against the Montreal Canadiens. So far the team looks pretty good and will only get better, however they could be in for more of the same according to Frank Seravalli of TSN. Seravalli made his bold predictions for the 2019-20 season and he predicts another first round exit for the Leafs. The analyst and insider says that despite Auston Matthews hitting the 50 goal mark, the defense just won't be good enough to get it done down the stretch. Here's his full excerpt on the Leafs. "Stuck between the Bolts and Bruins, it's going to be more of the same for the Buds. Another first-round exit is on the horizon. There is no doubting the Leafs' firepower and motivation this season (Auston Matthews will hit 50 goals), it's the lack of depth on defence (Nos. 4-7) that makes breaking through to the other side of the Atlantic Division bracket a real challenge."
