For the Toronto Maple Leafs, life without Mitch Marner has yielded some mixed results. The Leafs are 4-3-1 since Marner suffered his high-ankle sprain against the Bruins on March 7th, but thankfully, the top line winger has been skating and isn't projected to miss much more time.

Marner has been skating away from the cameras for a week or so, but has not yet joined his team for practice. On Tuesday, the media was present for Marner's pre-practice skate and the gifted playmaker didn't look half bad out there, working on his edges and did not appear to be labouring at all while carving up the ice.

Thankfully, since Marner went down with an injury, a number of other players have stepped up and played well in his absence. Not only has captain John Tavares notched 10 points in his last 5 games, but Max Domi has also chipped in with 5 points in his last 3 games, and Bobby McMann has contributed 4 points in his last 3 games. Still, even with a few players contributing more, few can do what Marner can do with the puck and there's no doubt that the team is a lot better off with Marner playing than without.

The Leafs 3 games on the docket for this week, including a tilt against New Jersey tonight, a grudge match against Washington on Thursday and a trip down the road to Buffalo on Saturday. Hopefully, if all goes well, Marner will be able to make his triumphant return at some point this week, though tonight seems like a stretch.
