"The Toronto Maple Leafs and general manager Kyle Dubas have lots of work to do this offseason. Dubas will have to navigate through the salary cap not only this offseason but for the next couple as he's handed out some pretty heavy but necessary contracts. While Hyman won't be looking at a massive salary increase he'll still be likely looking at a nice pay bump if he continues at his current pace when he becomes UFA during the summer of 2021. The 27 year old had 21 goals in 51 games so far this season after registering 21 goals in 71 games last year. Hyman was asked about his upcoming contract status and whether he'd be interested in staying in Toronto. "I want to be a Leaf for a long time."Hyman is popular in the locker room and with fans so the Leafs will likely try and make some room for him on the cap but it might be easier said than done when the time comes during the summer of 2021.
