Yesterday, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs legend Lanny McDonald experienced a terrifying cardiac episode in a Calgary airport after arriving home from Toronto's All-Star weekend.
Luckily, a team of off duty nurses catching flights of their own acted quickly and rushed to aid McDonald in his time of need. Their selfless acts helped contribute to saving Lanny's life. With their quick decision-making, it helped speed up the process of having more professionals arrive to the scene and give McDonald a fighting chance.
McDonald extended his heartfelt love and gratitude to the two nurses for all of their help and support. He also gave a shoutout to Calgary Airport Police, Calgary Fire, Calgary Paramedics, and WestJet for acting quickly and ensuring McDonald would get to a nearby hospital for further treatement.
His appreciation went further when he thanked the nurses and doctors at the hospital he was taken to, for providing the best care possible. McDonald felt that everyone involved provided the highest levels of professionalism and expertise, while showing compassion and care for the 70-year-old Leafs/Flames legend.
