With Canada looking to win their third straight, Hockey Canada released its camp invitee list this afternoon. Two Toronto Maple Leafs prospects have played well enough to earn at least an invite to camp in Fraser Minten and Easton Cowan. Cowan was not on Team Canada's preliminary list from this past summer but has had a great start to his season with the London Knights and earned his way into an invite.
Cowan, the Leafs 2023 first-round pick, has registered 10 goals and 34 points in 21 games with the London Knights so far this season. Cowan has turned into a dynamic player that plays in all situations for the Knights.
Minten on the other hand, surprised many when he made the Leafs opening night roster. He played in four games for the Leafs before being returned to the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. He registered 3 goals and 10 points in 7 games for the Blazers before being traded to the Saskatoon Blades where he has put up 3 points in 4 games.
Both forwards have a very good shot at earning a final roster spot on Team Canada as they have only invited 16 forwards. That means that only three will be getting cut. Camp will take place from December 10th to 13th in Oakville, Ontario and cuts will be made following their second exhibition game against the USPORTS all-stars on the final day of camp.
