Gary Bettman reveals why he didn't give Leafs permission to hire Quenneville

Gary Bettman revealed during his annual "State of the Union" address that Joel Quenneville has sought permission to coach again.
Former Chicago Blackhawks and Florida Panthers coach Joel Quenneville has been very adamant about wanting to coach in the NHL again after being suspended indefinitely but the NHL after the unfortunate Kyle Beach cover up was revealed.
During his media availability yesterday, Commissioner Gary Bettman was asked about Stan Bowman and Quenneville's eligibility to return to the NHL.
"Currently, they're not eligible," Bettman said. "They have both reached out seeking an opportunity to come back, and that's something that I have to consider."
It appears that both have begun the process to return to the NHL, and while there is no timetable for Bettman to review their cases, it is very likely that their returns will be met with mixed emotions.
