After years away from the NHL, the league subtly announced that Quenneville and Bowman were reinstated as of July 1st and TSN's Chris Johnston reported that as of today, teams are free to hire the Stanley Cup winning coach and general manager.
While the NHL put out a press release on their website, their social media accounts refrained from posting any such news about the reinstatement on July 1st hoping it would be passed over by fans in favour of all of the free agent signings.
That, however, was not the case and on the heels of Johnston's report today, fans voiced their displeasure, filling the comments section with vomit, trash can and other disgusted emojis.
The concensus among fans was that they should not be reinstated and that the NHL is living up to its reputation as the worst league with the best sport. Check out some of the responses below.
While I'm sure there are some teams who will steer clear of that media circus outright, there are others who may jump at the chance to hire an experienced and decorated coach or GM, fully ignoring past transgressions with the idea of winning in mind.
