Late in the first period on Tuesday, with the Boston Bruins up 2-0 over the Buffalo Sabres, all hell broke loose following a massive hit. Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin and Bruins captain Brad Marchand were racing for a loose puck along the boards and got to it at the same time. Unfortunately for Marchand, instead of getting the puck, he got the rear-end of Dahlin with a massive reverse hit.

Marchand had no issue with the hit as both he and Dahlin got up and continued to play, however two Bruins, David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy, both went after Dahlin before everyone else on the ice jumped in. At one point, Sabres forward Dylan Cozens attempted to hip toss Pastrnak to the ice, ripping his helmet off in the process. Cozens and McAvoy were the only two players to be penalized on the play, each getting 2 minutes for roughing.

It's not the first time Marchand has been on the receiving end of a reverse hit as former Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban sent him crawling to the bench following a similar hit twelve years ago.

Marchand has always been the guy you love to hate, but would also love to have on your team. I do respect him for accepting that it was a clean hit and not going after Dahlin, however. He's normally not so passive in such situations.
