Tie Domi's 2nd stint with the Maple Leafs ran from 1994-95 to his final games in 2005-06, a run of 11 seasons with Sundin as a teammate. The ironic part is that Max Domi was born in 1995 - the year Tie returned to Toronto - so he essentially grew up around the likes of Sundin from the earliest days of his life.
Not only was he able to watch their games, visit the Air Canada Centre and meet the players, but he actually built a long standing relationship with the former Leafs captain that has stood the test of time.
With the Maple Leafs travelling to Stockholm for the Global Series, where they will be taking on the Detroit Red Wings and the Minnesota Wild, Domi will be able to finally take up Sundin's offer of visiting him in Sweden:
"Yup, I will for sure. Looking forward to it. Hopefully see the kids and Josephine as well - looking forward to it. He's been trying to get me down to Sweden for a long time so obviously really looking forward to seeing him and his family but really excited to get to know Sweden as a country. He loves it, he sends me pictures once in a while of him on the water at his house, it looks like paradise..."
Domi is currently riding a 4-game point streak in which he has recorded 5 assists, but he is still looking for that elusive first goal of the season. Perhaps visiting a long-time friend and checking off an item from his bucket list could get things going for him in Stockholm this weekend.
