Detroit captain Dylan Larkin shares tragic, heartbreaking news about why he was away from the team
In November, Detroit Red Wings Captain Dylan Larkin and his wife Kenzy announced they were expecting their first child. Earlier this week, Larkin unexpectedly took a leave of absence from the team and has now sadly shared why he stepped away.
In a truly heartbreaking post on Instagram, Larkin posted a black and white photo holding Kenzy's hand in the hospital with the following caption.
"This week, my wife and I said goodbye to our baby. It's hard to find words or positivity in this, but we greatly appreciate your support and understanding and thank you for respecting our privacy.
The grief the Larkins are currently experiencing is immeasurable and words would not be able to describe how they feel. This tragic news reminds us that while professional athletes are there to entertain us, at the end of the day they are still human and are susceptible to tragedy the same way we are. Our thoughts are with Dylan, Kenzy and the rest of the Larkin family at this unfathomable time.
