2022 Hobey Baker Award winner, Dryden McKay made his AHL debut on Friday for the Toronto Marlies after previously making his professional hockey debut with the ECHL's Newfoundland Growlers earlier this year.

Unfortunately for McKay, the Marlies blew a 4-1 lead, allowing 3 consecutive third period goals to sent the game to OT, where Grand Rapids Griffins forward Cross Hanas buried the game-winner, his 6th goal of the season.

McKay posted a 4-0-1 record with a .911 SV% and a 2.58 G.A.A. in 5 games for the Growlers after 4 strong seasons with Minnesota State University.

The 24-year-old collected 113 wins, never had a save percentage below .924, his G.A.A only surpassed 1.55 once, and only lost 20 games in total. For his efforts during the 2021-22 season, in which he went 38-5-0 with a .931 SV% and a 1.31 G.A.A., he was awarded collegiate hockey's finest award. McKay decided to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a collegiate free agent on the 25th of April.

The Toronto Marlies' goaltender Dylan Ferguson was scratched for an illness with Brendan Bonello, who was signed to a PTO on Friday, was backing up McKay tonight.
