The Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins have been battling it out on the ice for nearly 100 years now since Boston came into the league in 1924. Recent history has worked out better for Boston, knocking the Leafs out of the playoffs in 2013, 2018 and 2019, but this legendary rivalry continues to live on.

Of all the memories over all the years, one iconic moment in particular occurred 34 years ago today. In one of the few times that the Leafs had the upper hand over the Bruins, the Leafs secured an unlikely victory, erasing a 6-1 deficit to force overtime, with the Leafs capping off the win thanks to an overtime goal from one of the most beloved Leafs of all time, Wendel Clark.

Clark played just 38 games that season and only 15 games the season before. However, regardless of the fact that he only played 38 games in 1989-90, Clark still managed to score 18 goals and rack up 116 penalty minutes. He was adored by the fanbase throughout his tenure in Toronto and is still adored by the fans to this day - and rightfully so.

There was nobody like Wendel Clark in Toronto when he arrived and there may never be another one like him again.
