6-foot-1 Flyers winger takes on the largest player in the NHL in a fight and beats him
The Philadelphia Flyers faced off against the Seattle Kraken for the 2nd time in 4 days and unlike the first game, this one wasn't close. The Flyers lost their 3rd game in a row and 7th of their last 9 by a score of 6-2 but at least there was a heavyweight showdown, as Nicolas Deslauriers and Jamie Oleksiak dropped the gloves.
Mid-way through the first period and being outshot 9-0 at that juncture of the game, Deslauriers dropped the gloves with Oleksiak, looking to spark his team as he has done all year. This was his NHL leading 11th fighting major, compared to Oleksiak who partook in his 4th fight.
Oleksiak stands at a hulking 6'7 and 257 lbs, while Deslauriers stands at 6'1 and 220 lbs. Despite entering the fight as the much smallee man, Deslauriers came out with the decision as he teed off on Oleksiak from the on-set with Oleksiak trying to get his arm free. Deslauriers threw a couple of body shots and then followed that up with couple of head shots before they wrestled along the boards.
Deslauriers went to the penalty box in obvious pain as he was seen writhing a little, but he came out of the box and played his usual shifts after that. Oleksiak recorded an assist and was a plus 2 while playing 16:48 TOI as the Kraken took home 2 very important points in their race for the Pacific crown. Deslauriers played 11:54 TOI and surprisingly recorded no hits.
