Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving finally got involved in the PTO market on Wednesday, signing ex-San Jose Sharks forward Noah Gregor to a professional tryout ahead of Leafs training camp, which is set to kick off in about a week and a half.

Gregor, 25, skated in 57 games for the Sharks last season, racking up a surprisingly solid 10 goals and 17 points. Gregor notched a hat trick in a game against the Arizona Coyotes last season, which shows that he can contribute, even in a depth role.

Nobody is expecting Gregor to come out and earn a roster spot in Toronto, but the opportunity is certainly there for him to come to camp and surprise Treliving and the coaching staff.

A former Leaf spoke about Gregor's opportunity on Wednesday. Jay Rosehill, who was with the Leafs organization from the 2008-09 season through the 2011-12 season, had some advice for Gregor ahead of Leafs training camp - advice that could make him stand out to Treliving, Keefe and company.

"My advice, if you're listening, Noah - play with a chip on your shoulder. Crash and bang a little bit. Get in those exhibition games. F*** it, drop your gloves and wrestle some guy to the ice, show that you can play with a little bit of jam. Treliving will just go like this; 'ooooh, we need some of that', and you're on the f***ing team. Not hard, you just gotta strap some balls on and I know a good Alberta boy can get that done." - Rosehill's advice for Noah Gregor ahead of Leafs training camp

Gregor will have some stiff competition in training camp with Dylan Gambrell, Pontus Holmberg, Nick Robertson, Bobby McMann and others set to challenge for a roster spot.
