Shortly after it was announced that former Leaf Travis Boyd had inked a deal to remain in Arizona through the 2023-24 season, another former Leaf inked a multi-year deal of his own with the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.

Ben Hutton came to terms with the Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon on a two-year deal that will pay him $850,000 per season starting in 2022-23. Hutton signed with Vegas as a free agent this past October.

The 28-year-old was brought in by the Leafs at the deadline for some added defensive depth for their playoff run. Obviously, things did not end up working out for the Leafs and their postseason run was another short one. Hutton made it into just 4 regular season games for the Leafs and none of their playoff games last season.

Hutton was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 5th round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft with the 147th overall pick. The Brockville, ON native played 4 seasons as a member of the Canucks organization, but had spent brief stints in Los Angeles and Anaheim before being acquire by the Leafs last season.

So far this season, Hutton has appeared in 35 games with the Golden Knights, contributing 2 goals and 7 assists for a total of 9 points on the year.
