Reimer has another year under contract, making $2.25 million per season. In 36 games for the Sharks this year, Reimer has a 15-13-6 record but despite a losing record, he has a .916 save percentage. He's played well behind a poor Sharks defense and he's shown in the past that he can perform on a big stage.
Marc-Andre Fleury is currently the top goalie available, but with Braden Holtby coming off the market, Reimer could be a good consolation prize for a team that misses out on Fleury. Reimer would also be a great insurance option for many teams and because of his term he can be a backup or in a tandem in the future for a team that acquires him.
This wouldn't be Reimer's first time being moved at the deadline. In 2016 the Leafs traded him to the Sharks for Alex Stalock, Ben Smith, and a 4th round pick. As interest in the 34-year-old picks up, there's a chance Optimus Reim could be on a playoff team within the next 24 hours.
