A second WJC game has been cancelled on Wednesday
For the second time in as many days, we have a WJC cancellation and forfeiture to announce, as Czechia vs Finland has been cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test for the Czechs.
Czechia was forced to forfeit the contest, following in line with what Team USA had to endure on Tuesday with their game against Switzerland to ensure that any potential outbreaks are contained. The score will be recorded as 1-0 Finland, and Leafs fans will have to wait for another look at prospects
Roni Hirvonen and
Topi Niemela.
Team USA had two players test positive, but have since had no new players added to protocol. It's still early, but it appears as though only one Czech player has tested positive. It is expected that additional testing will occur to mitigate the threat of the virus continuing to spread.
I suppose we'll have some more clarity on Thursday, as the Czechs are scheduled to play Austria in the last of the preliminary games before the real tournament begins.
