A very important announcement regarding Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov
Leafs' prospect and 2020 15th overall pick Rodion Amirov is appearing closer to a return after missing almost all of last season battling brain cancer. The KHL's Salavat Yulaev shared their roster for the road trip they are about to embark on and, to everyone's surprise, Amirov was listed on it.
The chances of Amirov playing are slim given that last month he said he was aiming for a November return, but having him join the team for a road trip means things are progressing positively. After essentially being isolated from his teammates while undergoing treatments in Germany and Russia since his diagnosis, being able to accompany the team on a road trip is a massive step forward.
As mentioned above, Amirov said he was aiming for a November return, but with him joining the team for a road trip this early in the season, there is potential for him to return even earlier.
