After being linked to names such as Patrick Kane and Ryan O'Rielly, another top name has peaked the interest of Kyle Dubas and co. According to Insider David Pagnotta, the Leafs have also shown interest in acquiring Canucks captain Bo Horvat. Until this point, Horvat was not linked to Toronto by any well-known or trustworthy names.
Horvat, a pending UFA, has been one of the few bright spots in a disastrous season for the Vancouver Canucks and would prove to be a solid addition to any lineup. Scoring 24 times to go with 35 points and a cap hit of $5.5 Million, the forward should be one of the top trade targets this deadline.
Should Kyle Dubas have serious interest, there would have to be some cap crunching involved and potentially some salary retention. With the Canucks having already stated that they do not wish to retain any salary on Horvat, the Leafs may have to bring a third team along for the ride to retain some salary if they want to have any shot at bringing Horvat home to Toronto.
