Agent provides details for 21-year-old Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov's funeral service
The hockey world was shocked and saddened by the news that Leaf prospect Rodion Amirov had passed away after battling brain cancer at just 21 years-old earlier this week. Tributes and condolences flooded social media and the Ufa-Arena where his jersey is hung to honour him. As more and more details were released about his battle and his last few months it became more and more heartbreaking.
Even through his battle, Amirov was always positive and always wanted to make sure the people around him were okay and taken care of. Although he was unable to realize his dream of playing in the NHL, Amirov touched the hearts of many around the world with his outlook throughout the past year and a half and that is evidenced by the fact that his family has decided to have a public funeral service for him.
Amirov's agent, Dan Milstein, released the details of Amirov's funeral today, stating that it will take place at Ufa-Arena, where his KHL team, Salavat Yulayev, plays their home games. Amirov will officially be laid to rest on August 21st. Our condolences go out to his friends, family and teammates.
