The Toronto Maple Leafs are believed to be among the teams to have expressed an interest in Chychrun but now it appears as though there is another Canadian franchise who could be preparing to take a run at the Coyotes defenseman.
According to The Athletic's Allen Mitchell, Edmonton cannot be ruled out as a potential landing spot for Chychrun. We know that the Oilers have tried to move the final two years of Tyson Barrie's contract. We also know that Oscar Klefbom is unlikely to play again this season. Does all of this amount to the Oilers looking at all options to re-vamp their blueline before the season begins?
If the Oilers do wish to pursue a deal for Chychrun, they have all of their 1st round picks for the next 3 seasons and a few intriguing prospects in the pipeline. They also have young NHL players whom they could offer up in the deal. Would something like Jesse Puljujarvi, Tyler Tullio and a 1st round pick be enough to get the job done? I'd imagine it would be close to what the Yotes are looking for.
This continues to be a situation to keep an eye on.
