The Matthew Tkachuk blockbuster was undoubtedly the deal of the summer. In fact, it was one of the bigger moves in recent memory and also the rare occasion where both teams appear to have gotten what they wanted, with Tkachuk headed to a contender in Florida and with Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Shwindt and a 1st round pick headed to Calgary to completely retool their club and give them a bit of a different look.

With the dust having settled on the trade, we have since discovered which teams were on Tkachuk's short list of teams with whom he'd be willing to sign a long-term deal. What we hadn't yet identified if there were any teams who pushed hard to make a deal happen only to have Tkachuk slam the door in their faces. Well, now we know at least one of those teams.

Per a report, the New Jersey Devils were a team who pushed hard to bring Tkachuk into the fold after missing out on Johnny Gaudreau in free agency. Unfortunately for the Devils, Tkachuk was unwilling to sign a long-term deal if he was being shipped to New Jersey.
