Per The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Los Angeles Kings could be a team to watch in the DeBrincat and Fiala sweeps. The Kings have the luxury of having over $20M in available cap space this summer, so it's not as though the money would be an issue, even if the Kings wanted to take a run at both skilled wingers.
The Kings only have 14/23 roster spots filled for next season, leaving them with 9 spots to fill out the roster, but while it seems like that $20M could dwindle quickly, it is worth mentioning that they have eight restricted free agents, only one of whom are expected to demand big money on his new deal. Of those eight RFA's, five qualify for arbitration; Adrian Kempe is the only one who may cash in, but he is rumoured to be on the trade block. Aside from Kempe, the Kings have the likes of Carl Grundstrom, Lias Andersson, Brendan Lemieux and Jacob Moverare having arbitration rights.
It's probably a long shot that LA will pursue both players, but they could land one and then still pursue Filip Forsberg in free agency. It's a well-known fact that Forsberg and Kings winger Viktor Arvidsson are best friends and that Forsberg was devastated when the Preds traded Arvidsson to LA last summer.
The Kings could take a huge step forward next season. They have the prospects, draft capital and roster players necessary to pull off more than one significant deal, so they'll certainly be a team to watch.
