Another trade has been completed, this one with multiple loose ties to the Toronto Maple Leafs. After acquiring Marc-Andre Fleury from the Chicago Blackhawks, the Minnesota Wild have made a subsequent move to acquire defenseman Jacob Middleton from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen.

How does this relate to the Leafs? Well, the Leafs were linked to Middleton in recent trade rumours, but more importantly, with the addition of Kahkonen, the Sharks are up to three NHL goaltenders and former Leafs starter James Reimer is believed to be available and likely to move at some point today.

With the Leafs currently at a bit of a stand still as they await word on what will happen with injured forward Ondrej Kase, who suffered a scary-looking head injury on Saturday in Nashville, and also as they await the answer as to whether goaltender Petr Mrazek has been claimed or whether he clears.

The Leafs could find themselves with just under $2M in available cap space to as much as $5M in available space, depending on what happens with those two players.

Could we see a Reimer reunion in Toronto this season? Or will the Leafs press on with Campbell and Kallgren? Is there another name out there who makes sense for the Leafs to target in a trade to upgrade in goal?

These are just a few of the questions that we'll have the answer to in approximately 3 hours time.
