Per Ian Mendes, the Sens have signed journeyman forward and former Ottawa Senator Derick Brassard and 2014 5th overall pick Michael Dal Colle to professional tryout contracts (PTOs).
Dal Colle has never quite lived up to his billing as a top-5 pick, skating in just 112 games over parts of 5 NHL seasons. Though he was drafted in 2014, Dal Colle did not make his NHL debut until the 2017-18 season. The now 26-year-old hasn't been able to stick in the NHL on a full-time basis yet and has produced just 21 career NHL points to date.
Brassard, now 34, has played for 10 different NHL teams over the course of his 15-year NHL career. Brassard spent the majority of his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets (who drafted him 6th overall in 2006) and the New York Rangers, but also spent short stints in Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Florida, Colorado, Long Island, Arizona, Philadelphia and Edmonton.
During his 951-game NHL career, Brassard has registered 202 career NHL goals and 522 career NHL points, with an additional 68 points coming in 118 playoff games.
