Jason Robertson will be the main focus as he has not attended the Dallas Stars training camp since he is in a contract dispute with the team. Robertson has had an impressive first two NHL seasons so far. In the 2021 season, he put up 45 points in 54 games and topped that last year with 79 points in just 74 games.
The two latest updates on Robertson came out today when TSN insider Pierre LeBrun reported no real update, other than that the team and Robertson have had ongoing conversations.
The other update was reported by the After The Whistle show from former NHLers Greig Rivet and Andrew Peters, revealing that the Buffalo Sabres have inquired the Dallas Stars about the forward.
This would be huge for the Sabres if they can pull off a deal to get Robertson, as he would bring a great scoring touch to the club and complement their up-and-coming young talent nicely. Buffalo has $20.4 million in cap space and would be able to afford to pay him big money. The Sabres also have the picks and prospects to offer up in a deal that would provide the Stars with some pretty good incentive to move him.
The clock is ticking on the Stars to sign their young star to a contract, but if nothing can be solved, a change of scenery could be a realistic look for Robertson and the Stars.
