Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price underwent a successful injection procedure on his injured knee this week, but has still not made any decisions on his playing future. As much as the Habs would like him back, mentally and physically, Price went through hell last season and will take all the time he needs before deciding his future. This puts the Habs in a position to begin looking at potential replacements to back up Jake Allen next season.

Per Jim Murphy, the Habs have expressed interest in St. Louis Blues goalie Ville Husso. Husso is an unrestricted free agent and is coming off of a career year that saw him steal the starting job from Jordan Binnington only to flounder in the playoffs. His last contract was a league minimum deal that paid $750K, but given the fact that he is 27 and is running out of time to cash in, he could be looking for a lengthy deal.

He shouldn't get more than $4M a season on the open market and even then that may be a bit pricey for a goalie that had one good half season in his career. Given the fact that the Leafs appear to be looking at unproven and reclamation projects, Husso is likely at the top of their list, but if the Habs are able to and want to pay him more on a longer term deal with Price sidelined, it wouldn't be surprising to see Husso take the money and run to Montreal.
