This season marks the end of Kadri's 6 year contract paying him a miserly $4.5 million per season. The pending UFA had a career year this season, posting 87 points in 71 games for the Colorado Avalanche. He also had a fantastic playoff run until a dirty hit by Evander Kane forced him to undergo surgery to repair an injured hand. Kadri is going to make big bucks starting next season, and deservedly so.
Chris Johnston of the SDPN suggested a possible landing spot for Kadri that would be a nightmare for Leafs fans. With the possible retirement of Patrice Bergeron looming, the Boston Bruins are in need of a new 1C. They will probably have the cap space, especially if they trade David Pastrnak, as it's been reported they're considering. Kadri fits the Bruins playing style perfectly. Johnston even suggested putting Kadri on a line with Brad Marchand. I can't imagine a less fun duo to play against.
At this point, there is no noise or chatter to support this, simply Johnston spitballing. The more I think about it though, the more this horrific scenario makes sense. Here's hoping Kadri's hate for the Bruins is enough to keep him from donning the black and gold next season and beyond.
